I am a scientist and educator committed to listening to, engaging, and inspiring students to excel in their schoolwork. I will talk with the parents, get to know your child, and develop a plan to help them and teach them to help themselves. I will focus heavily on the subject matter but also – when it is applicable — on organization, study skills, time management, prioritization, and self-advocacy as these are all keys to being successful in school and on exams. Tutoring is a dynamic process involving the student, their teachers, and parents as well as the tutor, so I will be sure to provide updates on plans and progress to relevant parties.
I have a PhD in biomedical research from Harvard Medical School and Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. I also have studied statistics, epidemiology, and quantitative methods and earned a Masters in Public Health in these areas from Harvard School of Public Health. I was a professional cancer biology researcher for several years, but because I love working with young people, and love explaining biology and math, I have changed my focus towards educating others in these subject areas.
