I am a certified Mechanical EIT (engineer-in-training) with a SB in Civil Engineering and Minor in Mathematics from MIT. I have seven years of experience as a private tutor, and some experience teaching informal classes in pure mathematics such as group theory and linear algebra.
The subjects that I most frequently tutor are high school physics and calculus. However, the thing that sets me apart from other tutors is my ability to take on advanced engineering subjects such as structural analysis, vibrations, fluid mechanics, and the mathematics needed to understand them (linear algebra, differential equations).
My tutoring style depends on what is effective and comfortable for each student. Typically, I walk my students through each concept and progressively give them more and more independence in solving problems until they can do so on their own. Difficult concepts are broken down into simply digestible parts and explained in intuitive ways. Tutoring sessions take place in a relaxed atmosphere where questions and comments are encouraged.
I work as a furniture designer and like to fix up my '72 MGB GT in my spare time.
