Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Genetics

I started studying basic genetics during high school through AP Biology, and continued while majoring in Biology in college. My relevant courses have included basic human genetics , genomics, epigenetics, cancer biology (lots of genetics there), and development. After graduating I've been working in a research lab looking into some of the genetic signals that influence development of the lung, as well as genetic signals involved in disease modeling.

Grammar

In addition to countless high school and college essays (including personal statements), through my work I've edited and written many professional papers. Nothing enhances a person's confidence like proper grammar--it will make you sound and feel as intelligent as you know you are!

Proofreading

My coworkers are frequently asking me for help editing their papers; I'm somewhat known as the "English expert" at work. I have varied experience from editing science research papers for publication to proofreading college essays.

Not only will I make sure that everything is perfect before it is submitted, but I'll also help you to understand why each edit is necessary to help you in the future!

Spanish

I began studying Spanish in elementary and middle school. My studies continued through college, where I minored in Spanish. I've also studied abroad in Spain and Chile, doing homestays in both countries.

A five paragraph essay will typically have the following: Introduction paragraph (¶1): state your thesis (your main point) and briefly outline each of your supporting points. Supporting paragraphs (¶2-4): each will have a topic sentence that states the main theme of the paragraph,...
