I am a native of Hong Kong, being born and educated there. I have earned my B.Sc. and M.Phil. degree at Chinese University of Hong Kong before I came to US in the fall of 1987. I am fluent in written and classic Chinese and speak both Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. I have many years of training in physical science and academic research experience. I earned my PhD degree from the University of Chicago during early 1990's. Afterwards, I did research at University of California Santa Barbara and Boston University.
I have been working in the human service field, including the first Mayor appointment of an Asian City Official in City of Quincy from 1997 to 2004. While I was there, I worked with a diverse group of people, organization and local community. I also worked briefly at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab CODIS DNA division for six months. My strong interest in IT and computer science propelled me to learn and master a wide range of knowledge and understand of computer and humanity. I am also an active holder of a Massachusetts State Real Estate Salesperson license, but not actively practicing residential and commercial sales and rental. I have been a Massachusetts Notary Public for many years serving especially those with limited English ability.
I have been a full time High School science teacher for many years since 2009. I have taught AP and Honor Chemistry for three month at Randolph High School in 2009-2010 school year. Then I taught IB Science and Chemistry at Josiah Quincy Upper School, an IB school from the Boston Public School District, during 2010-2011 school year. This past year, I taught Biology and Chemistry at another Boston Public School, the Excel High School in South Boston. During school year of 2012-2013, I teach at Peabody Veteran Memorial High School for a short time (August 2012 to October 2012). Currently I hold preliminary licenses to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics from grade 8-12 as stipulated by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
I will be able to help with students in the following area: SAT 2 chemistry and physics, any science subject in elementary and high school level, and MCAT preparation for graduate school in the medical field.
