can read more about
John’s qualifications in specific subjects below.
Biology
I have a Ph.D. in biological sciences and have significant experience in college level teaching and tutoring.
My primary areas of expertise are: cell biology, physiological aspects of biology, anatomy, biochemistry, science and critical thinking
Biostatistics
I have a Ph.D. in pharmacology with over 25 years in biotechnology and basic science discovery research. More specifically, my research has focused on in vitro discovery pharmacology, experimental design, data analysis, and data presentation (publications and presentations).
I have published ~ 145 peer reviewed studies, and have ~140 presentations at scientific meetings.
In addition, I currently tutor a WyzAnt student (graduate school) in the pathology of renal disease by assisting in literature analysis, experimental design, instrumentation mentoring, experiment methods and biostatistiscal interpretation.
With respect to my target students, I would be able to tutor and mentor in:
- scientific methods
- experimental design of research studies
- scientific thinking and critical analysis
- basic biostatistics employed in biological and medical research
- experience with Microsoft Excel analysis, PowerPoint Graphics and presentation
- experience with curve fitting and Sigma Plot graphing for analysis and presentation
In summary, my skills are orientated to helping both novice and advanced biological students in developing, implementing statistically scientific studies, using statistics to analyze results, and employing appropriate graphical and presentation techniques.
