I offer one-on-one lessons in subjects like Math, Computer Science, and English. Usually I tutor with a person for several months to a year. I do not have many students at one time. References are available.
I am a recent graduate from the Department of Mathematics at MIT. I have been tutoring and teaching for ten years, and also and have several years of experience in teaching, preparing, and grading math classes at the college level.
My main goal is to have the student develop personally in the area, understand the material and feel comfortable with the subject. Mathematics is a beautiful thing. It is one of the few subjects that can be deeply mastered and felt in an objectively measurable fashion.
A solid mathematical background gives a student academic confidence and prepares them for approaching and solving problems they encounter in future classes, other subjects, and later in work.
Also, different students are looking for different things from private tutoring. I seek to understand and accommodate individual student goals.
On the more practical side, I can help students build test-taking skills and can discuss preparing for standardized tests and applying to colleges and education programs.
I am currently a graduate student in the Department of Mathematics at MIT. I was undergrad at MIT, and also took classes at colleges in Washington state during high school.
