My expertise is English and French literature, French, reading and writing, film studies and art history, American and European history.

I write for several magazines and I have held positions as a assistant editor, thus I have experience with editing and revision. I can also offer assistance with regards to writing personal statements for scholarships or college essays.

I have assisted teaching second-graders, middle and high school, as well as adult learners. I taught English as a second language in France to high school students for a year in 2011-2012.

I like working with students who struggle with their studies because not only is it a challenge for me, but to see them overcome the difficulties is quite a reward! I also hope to impart my passion and interest in the subjects, and of course, make it as fun as possible. I am also able to offer a lot of valuable information regarding college counseling, since I have attended several colleges throughout my undergraduate studies.

I studied at Simmons College, where I earned my BA (English Literature) in 2011. I currently attend Lesley University, where I am studying for my MFA in creative writing. In addition to school, I work full-time at MIT as an administrative assistant.

Elementary (K-6th)

I was a teaching assistant at an elementary school in Lancaster, PA for second-graders. I also served as a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) tutor (ages 5-7) in France.

Study Skills

I have worked with students while tutoring them in other subjects to develop strategic study skills to prepare for upcoming tests, or simply, to better approach the subject material.

As a full-time administrative assistant and a full-time MFA student, I understand the struggles of organization and time management.

Track & Field

I have run three marathons, with a fourth pending at the end of this month. I have developed training plans for both myself and colleagues. I was a consultant for the Chestnut Hill Reservoir 5k in Boston.

Bible Studies

I studied the Bible while at Simmons College. My experience is largely literature-based, rather than religion-based.

Drawing

I was a fashion illustrator for lee.lin designs, which incorporates figure drawing and gouache paints. In 2006, a painting of mine was exhibited at the Women and Babies Hospital in Lancaster, PA.

Public Speaking

As an actress and a teacher, I have experience presenting in front of a large audience. I use acting techniques to help students as they prepare for their presentations. In many of my classes, I dedicate a component of my class to public speaking/presentations, in which the student must either "teach" a mini-lesson or present their research topic to the class.

I also mentor students when preparing for job interviews, which is its own form of public speaking.

Career Development

I have advised high school students in how best to pursue their career goals. This advising has included how to be strategic about choosing schools and courses, as well as how to network or best use internships. I help them narrow down their interests to match them with desired positions.

College Counseling

I have mentored students with their personal essays for college admissions, as well as how to narrow down their choices for schools, considering options like location, finance/scholarships, and opportunities after they graduate. While students are in high school, I advise them to take up extracurricular activities and pursue courses that reflect positively on their college application.

Social Studies

"Social studies" is an interdisciplinary pursuit, described by the United States Americans National Council for the Social Studies as an "integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence." This includes history to pop-culture, civics to psychology.
