I love mathematics, and believe that with story, visual models, patience, and humor, I can help any struggling student. Most of my considerable experience is with elementary students, but I am certified to teach at the high school level. Mathematics is about patterns, and these patterns have a beautiful simplicity.
But math is not always taught that way. It can be taught as a bewildering procession of calculation rules and procedures, and that can turn students off pretty quickly if memorizing procedures is not a strength. My website shows some of the math models I have built.
