AVAILABILITY NOTE: Due to transportation limitations, I am able to tutor students in the Harvard Square area only. I am happy to tutor on weekday nights and weekends.
As a 2009 Yale graduate, a 2011 M.S. recipient in Biology, and current Harvard Law student, I know firsthand what a pressure-cooker school can be. While studying at Yale, I was a three season, four year athlete on the cross country and track and field teams, so I truly understand that your time is your (or your child's) most important asset. Let me help you make the most of it!
I graduated cum laude (GPA 3.8) from Yale with a double major in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, and economics. I completed my master's degree in molecular biology at UT Dallas in a single year, and am currently pursuing my JD at Harvard. With my background in math, science, and writing, I know I can help you master challenging material and replace frustration with confidence--not to mention extra time.
Of course, decades of formal education also means decades of standardized testing. After the stress of the ivy-league college and law school application process, I know first hand just how important (and terrifying!) the SATs and LSATs can be. For better or worse, there is too much riding on testing performance to go unprepared. At the same time, the more important the test, the more daunting and overwhelming it can seem. Start early and work with someone who can tailor their program to your needs!
I received a combined 1520 out of 1600 on the SATs (old version) and an 800 on the writing SATII. I also scored a 177 on the 2010 October LSAT. I'm living proof that these tests can be conquered, because that's definitely not where I started. Let me help you find similar success.
I'm happy (and eager) to tutor all levels and ages--I have worked with children in foster care as a volunteer advocate, so I can definitely communicate well with kids. My first priority will be to convince your child that he or she CAN learn the concept (and that I will stick around until that happens!). Actually "getting it" can come pretty quickly once that first hurdle is overcome.
For older students, I've been exactly where you were--I'm still there, in fact. I know how little time you have to get things done, and I know that the best studying ALWAYS happens the night before the test. Let me help you prepare! With an open line of communication, I will be able to help you avoid that last minute panic. We can work on a regular or as needed basis--to help you keep up with your classes or provide that extra boost for exams.
Please contact me with any questions--I look forward to working together.
