I have been a teacher for over 30 years and have successfully shared the joy of reading with children as young as three years old. Very young children have learned to read with my innovative approach using songs, games, interesting literature and tricks to remember patterns in words to making reading fun! I use the Orton-Gillingham methodology to teach a strong phonemic foundation so that reading makes sense. I have had parents amazed when their child who could not read picked up a book just for the sheer enjoyment of reading! I use a multi-sensory approach that holds built in success for every child whether he/she is an auditory, sensory, or visual learner. I am certified in both Wilson and Orton-Gillingham reading methods, but use a unique approach to instill the love of reading.
This approach also works in teaching science, art, math and social studies. Children will identify the patterns and rhythms in words and numbers and be able to apply those skills to everyday classroom school work.
