I have been using different types of math throughout my life. I excelled at math in school, receiving a perfect score on the GRE, and am taking advanced math as a graduate student at Harvard. I have been involved in research and analysis for many years, giving me the opportunity to apply mathematical concepts to everyday life. For example, I work with a television network in analyzing data to determine the winners of national elections.
I believe in using real world situations to make math exciting and come to life. I also believe in working with students to understand numbers in a new way, so that they can visualize how the concepts fit together. I take time to find out the student's interests outside of math, and use it in the tutoring.
I have also studied history for many years, particularly modern history and politics, and love learning and teaching the stories behind fascinating people and important events. I have worked on many political campaigns, using my knowledge of history to develop strategies. History is more than dry names and dates. I believe in working with students to understand the big picture.
