I became a teacher because I love to learn and I love to use what I know to help others reach their goals. Since 2008, I've been helping students to understand the importance of language and how to best use language to their advantage. It is so rewarding to see students improve, succeed and flourish!

My area of expertise is English as a Foreign Language, which means that I have mostly worked with students who do not live in a country where English is spoken. From 2008 to 2012 I lived in Viet Nam and learned how to help and support students in a variety of ways, including: business English, SAT Prep, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, GRE Prep, IELTS and a variety of writing specializations. Because I lived and worked abroad, I am familiar with the difficulties many people have with correct English pronunciation and have learned how to help students become better understood by native English-speakers around the world.

My approach to teaching is that every student needs support, but in different ways. This means that I do my very best to understand the difficulties each of my students has and then come up with a personalized plan for success. While I am known for being a challenging teacher, I am sensitive to how much my students can handle in each lesson and in each course.

Because I am a challenging teacher, I ask for students who are also committed to learning and to improving themselves. I feel that holding each other to a high standard allows us to more easily achieve a student's goals. I am always open to feedback because I feel that the basis of a good teacher/student dynamic is a relationship formed through honesty and respect.

At this time, I do not have a tutoring space of my own but I am willing to travel to any location within a reasonable distance. I require notice 24 hours in advance of cancellations, but I am willing to be flexible in terms of makeup classes and scheduling in general.

If you feel like you're ready to work with a tutor who can help you reach your goals, let me know and we'll begin!
