I have experience tutoring at the elementary, high school, and college levels. I worked for a year as a tutor in an after-school program at Berkeley Elementary School in Denver, Colorado. There, I was tutoring children in 1st through 5th grade. I helped them with math, reading, spelling, vocabulary, etc. I also tutored a classroom of high school algebra youth for a semester at West High School, also in Denver, CO. At the college level, I tutored freshmen in a writing seminar and worked as a teacher assistant for that class. I helped freshman improve their writing skills, proofread papers, and develop theses. I also tutored peers in Psychology, Biology, and General Chemistry. In addition, I have extensive experience teaching ESL, which includes one year as teaching assistant at Family Focus Points (Denver) and one year tutoring through the Literacy Outreach Program (Glenwood Springs, CO). I am also a native Spanish speaker with advanced skills in reading and writing. Therefore, I feel comfortable not only tutoring students who are learning Spanish as a second language, but also students who are native Spanish speakers and want to improve their reading and writing skills.
My tutoring style is flexible according to the student's needs.
