Students should have fun (enjoy what they are learning) while they are being tutored. Finding out why they need tutoring in the first place is always a goal of mine. A student will not learn if they do not enjoy how a subject is presented to them. I also like to enhance what I am teaching with visuals, but that does not mean we do not use the assigned text. Film is often a viable way to enhance the learning process. Histories and (English) literature go hand-in-hand, and there is also art that was being created while these were being written (or made).
English grammar is extremely important for if you cannot communicate your ideas and thoughts to others, it does not matter who you are or what you know.
I have a Master in Education and am certified to teach history and am working on my English certification. I taught ceramics for 11 summers at a private day camp as I also have a degree in art -- my first degree being a Bachelor in Fine Arts Interrelated Media.
I have taught middle school and high school overseas twice (Egypt and Turkey) -- where I taught history and English (and also -- in Turkey -- drama) and also taught these in the United States.
I am also interested in the arts, films, and theatre. I love to read. I have a dog. I had my own (swing and jazz) radio show for several years.
