My name is Kerry M. and I have a degree in music from the University of Kentucky. After graduating college I moved to South Dakota to teach kindergarten on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation as a part of Teach For America. Upon completing my 2 year commitment with TFA, I decided to obtain my 5 year teaching certificate in South Dakota and continue teaching at my school for another year. I feel that helping a students experience academic success during elementary school gives them both the confidence and skills they need to experience success throughout their academic career. Furthermore, I believe that, as a teacher, it is my responsibility to create a rigorous yet positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to take academic risks and fosters a lifelong love of learning.
