Tutoring should not feel like punishment, it should feel like an opportunity to learn the material on YOUR terms, with a coach (me) helping you achieve your best potential. My passion and enthusiasm for learning are contagious. Being a tutor, for me, is about having a unique combination of skill, passion and ability to build rapport. As a Harvard graduate, who currently works at MIT, I know that hard work and dedication to education can have a lasting impact. My goal is that you learn the concepts so well that YOU feel empowered and confident in your studies.
I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students realize their own potential and see their grades and test scores improve. I specialize in tutoring Math (including algebra, accounting, finance etc.) and Reading and Writing skills for success in school and on the SAT,GED, and the LSAT.
My goal is to engage you, to make uncomplicate Geometry proofs, to help you understand the strategy required to earn a top score on your standardized test and/or to help you write that spectacular essay that will "wow" an admissions committee.
I hold two general types of sessions:
1) Homework review/homework help: In these sessions, I work with the student to complete the assignment accurately, noting areas of difficulty and explaining broad concepts.
2) Conceptual review: These sessions focus more on reviewing concepts. I usually bring problems of my own. The session is highly interactive, and is more like a specialized highly tailored, highly individualized classroom session.
My standards for quality are very high. I really look for clients who I can continue to work with on an ongoing basis, for that reason, rest assured that if you are not completely satisfied with your session, you will be entitled to a refund.
I do have a cancellation policy in place, but make every effort to work with you to ensure that you are able to makeup materials/time we missed.
I can reserve library space for students in the Brighton area on BC's campus, but am also free to travel to coffee shops and/or student's homes if requested.
I look forward to working with you to succeed in your studies! Kareemah worked with my 15 year old freshman daughter as she approached algebra exam. She was knowledgeable and quite helpful. My daughter felt much more confident about the material after three sessions with Kareemah. I can also say that her manner was professional and pleasant. She has always responded promptly to my scheduling requests.
Thanks Eric, it was a pleasure working with Colleen!
Kareemah knows her stuff and is very organized. She is also very patient and does not mind repeating stuff. I look forward to working with her again in the future.
Kareemah is doing wonders with my daughter giving her confidence in test taking, providing her with specific tips that are helpful in taking the ACT's and providing the kind of structure and feedback that is getting real results. I couldn't have made a better choice for my daughter.
I highly recommend Kareemah S. as a LSAT tutor. Her teaching style is both professional and personable. Kareemah’s ability to design sessions tailored to ones needs are extremely helpful. She is patient and will break down any problem you find difficult until you fully understand how to approach it. This test is very demanding and as a “LSAT preper” I needed a tutor who would challenge me, hold me accountable, identify my weaknesses, and teach me strategic ways to improve my score. Kareemah has satisfyingly exhibited all of these qualities. During our sessions she is both persistent and encouraging; which allows me to release any anxiety and focus fully on the material. With each session I leave feeling a little more confident about the exam.
Without any reservation, I highly recommend Kareemah S. as a LSAT tutor and only wish I found her sooner!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
