I am a creative and innovative educator with over ten years of experience teaching elementary and middle school children with a broad variety of abilities and special needs. I have also been a detail oriented curriculum developer who pioneered and proved many new educational programs in the following subjects: Latin, Language Arts, History.

In Latin, I taught vocabulary and the classical roots of English to students as young as third grade. In Language Arts, I hosted Literary Guilds and gave students a basic foundation of English grammar to make their compositions sparkle with active verbs and lively adjectives. In History, I covered the subject with both breadth and depth, creating a notebook called the Book of Centuries which gave a place for students to record observed artifacts in a chronological and beautiful format.

My past students love me, and I am a bit of a legend at past schools. I like working one on one with students who have difficulties in composing their thoughts or fixing what is wrong in their present writing. I hope that I can help you love the English language in all of it intricacies.

As a teacher of Latin for over a decade, I have a confident command of English grammar and syntax. As a frequent travel blogger and recent graduate from a Masters program, I am not only a teacher of writing, but practice my own writing skills quite frequently. I will quickly diagnose where your student is struggling and put together a comprehensive program to remedy their situation.

ESL/ESOL

With a family that speaks two languages at home (Russian and English), I am no stranger to the difficulties of learning a second language. Though English is my first language, I have taught Latin and can speak conversational Russian after spending many summers with my family in Russia.

I am confident that I can help navigate the learning of English and get a student to a level of first speaking, then writing the language correctly.

I am presently certified to teach High School English in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I have a broad experience with teaching elementary school.

Phonics

Most people understand that the English language has 26 letters, but did you know that the sounds made by those letters/ letter combinations is limited to about 70 distinct sounds called phonemes? My tutoring will enable a student to identify those phonemes within a word and sort out the available ways to say each phoneme.

As a German-American, I am also naturally bent towards good time management myself, and I believe that I can impart that to others. Social Studies

The study of history and society is one of my greatest passions.
