My name is Tsiom M. I am originally from Los Angeles, California, in the San Fernando Valley, and now live in Boston, MA. I moved to Boston after moving initially to Maryland about 10 years ago. I have been teaching in the discipline of the social sciences for over 17 years, and am currently completing a doctorate in sociology. I have three master's degrees in anthropology/archaeology, applied sociology and sociology.
My teaching style is similar to those I use in the classroom. I am very detail-oriented and help the students comprehend theories, ideas, and help to break down assignments to enable students to succeed and overcome any problems encountered in their classes. I have taught at the K-12 level as a substitute, and mainly at the college level. I have academic training and credits toward a master's degree in education and second language acquisition, or ESL.
My studies focus on help-seeking barriers and informal support networks. My academic background is much broader. I have also been trained as a professional archaeologist and worked on excavations around the world, including Israel, Greece, France, Portugal; and across the U.S., mostly in California, Oregon, Arizona, Illinois, and Hawaii; and in the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland and the Shetland Islands.
I look forward to hearing from prospective students who need tutoring in any of the above disciplines, as well as in related subjects in the liberal arts!
