I am currently an after school program manager and an adjunct college professor at Bunker Hill Community College. My college background is in history
/government/politics. I received my Bachelor's Degree in History from Boston University and my Master's Degree in History from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
My background in education came from working at an after school program as a tutor, enrichment teacher, and program manager. As a program manager I have to make sure that students from K-5 receive a strong foundation of learning through our literacy and math
curricula. Both curricula incorporate the use of differentiation strategies to account for the different learning mechanisms that people demonstrate. Because of my background, I can tutor K-5 students in grammar
, and spelling
. My college graduate background allows me to tutor older students in Algebra
, History, Government/politics, and in the GRE
I would create a plan of action for every person that I am tutoring. My hope is to create a comprehensive plan that enables the student to quickly understand and grasp strategies to help them master the material. I believe its critical that students feel confident that they can master the material. As with building a house, every tutor should help the student create a cornerstone for his/her foundation of learning. Once that is established, learning becomes much easier. I work to ensure the success of all my students.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to becoming your tutor.
