My name is Michael, you may call me Mike. I'm a graduate of Boston University Class of 2013. I majored in biology with specialization in cell, molecular, and genetics and currently I work for the Wyss Institute of Biological Sciences.
I have been teaching mathematics and the life sciences for the past 2-4 years. My method of teaching is built around the student's needs in order to provide the most effective and efficient delivery of information that is crucial to their success both academically and life wise. For instance I once had a math student who struggled on a particular subject and when I first explained the concept, the student was still confused. I then explained the same concept under a different light and sure enough the student understood it and after some hands on practice, the student had no problems with that concept at all.
Patience is a key ingredient in tutoring and I believe that given an appropriate amount, a student's learning potential can be maximized and that no tutoring method can be generalized to all, rather it is more important to have the lessons be specific to each individual to provide an optimal learning experience.
