The biggest thing you have to know about me: I LOVE to teach! I recently finished teaching orchestral music at the High School and Middle School level, and before that taught music at Ore Valley Elementary School in Dallastown, PA, so I am confident that I could help a student of any age or experience level become a better musician and lover of music!

I also have very strong mathematics skills. I passed all of my high school mathematics courses with flying colors, including AP Calculus, on which national exam I scored a 5, which is the highest score possible. My collegiate studies of mathematics progressed my understanding of it even further, and my teaching experience/certification combined with that makes me a very reliable option there as well.

I am also a very fit, active, and motivated individual that is very willing to personally train anyone that plays a skill position in football, runs track and field, or would just like to get in shape! I'm looking forward to hearing from you, I love meeting, helping, and teaching new people!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

While a student in high school, I passed all mathematics classes with flying colors, including AP Calculus, in which I scored a 5 on the national AP Exam (highest score). I also excelled highly in collegiate level mathematics, earning A's in related subjects.

Algebra 2

While a student in high school, I passed all mathematics classes with flying colors, including AP Calculus, in which I scored a 5 on the national AP Exam (highest score). I also excelled highly in collegiate level mathematics, earning A's in related subjects.

Ear Training

I took four semesters of ear training/aural skills classes at the Pennsylvania State University School of Music and achieved an A grade in all four semesters. I have perfect pitch as well and have strong aural and singing abilities to model at the highest level for students. My aural skills are my highest level musical skill I have and I have tons of strategies that can be used by anyone to achieve high level results.

Elementary (K-6th)

I will be receiving my Bachelor of Music education degree in December of 2013, which gives me certification to teach all grades K-12. I just completed my elementary student teaching experience two weeks ago, where I was commended more highly by my cooperating teacher than any other student teacher she ever had. I loved my experience so much and wish I could do a lot more elementary level teaching!

General Music

I will be receiving my Bachelor of Music Education degree in December of 2013, which gives me certification to teach all grades K-12. I just completed my elementary student teaching experience two weeks ago, where I was commended more highly by my cooperating teacher (who has a Ph.D in Music Education) than any other student teacher she ever had, . I loved my experience so much and wish I could do a lot more elementary level teaching!

Music History

I took three semesters of music history as a music education major at the Pennsylvania State University and passed all three semesters. I currently teach music at Dallastown Area Senior High School, where I currently teach a Music History course.

Music Theory

I took five semesters of high level music theory as a music education major at the Pennsylvania State University and passed all of them. I am highly qualified to tutor individuals at any level, especially high school, where AP Music Theory (the highest level of music theory offered in American public schools) teaches only up to that which I studied in my very first semester of collegiate music theory.

Prealgebra

As a student throughout my life, I have always been very strong at all things mathematics. The first exposure I had to Pre-Algebra was in 7th grade and I passed with flying colors, and since then, I've been using and fortifying those skills in subsequent math courses, all of which I have been largely successful in, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, AP Calculus (scored the highest score possible on the national AP Exam), and more. As a middle school and high school teacher, I regularly use high level, evidence-supported teaching strategies that accelerate learning in all individuals, so pairing that with my proficiency at Pre-Algebra makes me the best candidate for anyone wanting extra help in their studies!

Sight Singing

I took four semesters of ear training/aural skills classes (very instensive sight-reading is included) at the Pennsylvania State University School of Music and achieved an A grade in all four semesters. I have perfect pitch as well and have strong aural and singing abilities to model at the highest level for students. My aural skills are my highest level musical skill I have and I have tons of strategies that can be used by anyone to achieve high level results. My strong collegiate choral background (membership in three different choirs that have performed nationally and internationally) has fortified those skills even more.

Violin

I have been studying violin for over 10 years and am getting ready to receive my Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Pennsylvania State University in December 2013. I currently teach violin and orchestral music at Dallastown Area Middle School and High School. I have studied most recently with Professor James Lyon, who has enjoyed a celebrated national/international performing and teaching career.

Voice (Music)

As a music education student from the Pennsylvania State University, I am qualified to teach any level of music K-12, including voice. I also have a combined 15 semesters of collegiate choral experience in the university's highest level vocal ensembles (all groups are auditioned). I have performed at state and national choral conferences with these groups as well as internationally. The directors of these groups have over 50 years of combined vocal education experience and hold between them several national chairperson positions, directorship of numerous programs, international choral conducting invitations, and two Grammy Awards.

Matthew W. is a Great Guy — Matt is a great tutor. He worked with my grandson who is in the 9th grade. Matt was able to get my grandson to open up and understand his homework packet. In fact the session went well and my grandson was able to understand the concept much better. Matt took his time and explained things until my grandson grasped what he was trying to teach him. I will use him again when needed. Matt is a great, f ...
