At Boston University, I served as a Learning Assistant for chemistry, biology, and physics courses for undergraduates. This unique tutoring experience focused on identifying misconceptions students had and working with them to clarify such misconceptions. There was also an emphasis on developing critical thinking and reasoning skills. I also worked as a formal tutor through Boston University's Education Resource Center. Here, I served as a tutor for Elementary Physics, Principles of General Chemistry, and Principles of Organic and Biochemistry. In this role I met with groups of 1-3 students weekly. I am currently involved with a Let's Get Ready! as a second time volunteer. My role is to coach students through the Math SAT. During my first volunteer position with LGR I was able to raise students diagnostic scores on the Math SAT between 70 and 100 points in just 8 weeks.
My extensive experience working with both college and pre-college students contribute to my success as a tutor. Additionally, I am dependable, sincere, and a role model to my tutees, which creates positive learning experiences.
