I am a dedicated tutor and successful entrepreneur, able to provide the motivation and direction students need to successfully learn. A well-rounded tutor, I have had an opportunity to instruct a diverse range of middle, high school and university students of all abilities across a variety of disciplines.

Over time I have become proficient in developing comprehensive, stimulating lesson plans and evaluating student performance. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is evoking curiosity and kindling the mind and imagination of the student toward life-long learning.

By way of a Socratic question-and-answer approach between myself and the students, I enjoy helping students realize an answer they were searching for was already within their grasp but simply needed to be coaxed, to be thought through. This way of guiding students has proven to be highly effective and encourages the art of thinking for oneself (our true aim as educators), ultimately leading the student — with enough practice — toward greater confidence, self-discipline, and the ability to think clearly and critically through any problem or challenge in school or, more importantly, in life.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience would best suit your needs, and look forward to the privilege of working with you to help achieve your goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Piano

Since birth I've been immersed in the tonal world of classical music and harbored a natural inclination for the piano. In 1995 I began studying classical piano seriously. Today I perform and record a wide range of works from Bach to Rachmaninoff, with an especial interest in Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms, as well as Scriabin and Rachmaninoff.

Study Skills

As a life-long learner, study skills (and the inherent discipline of mind therein) have been absolutely essential in the accomplishment of all my endeavors from learning classical piano to becoming a pilot, and working my way through college and graduate school. No matter what you are studying for, the principles of study remain precisely the same. If you are looking for someone to coach you and help get your skills on track and up to speed, then look no further: I can help guide you toward successful study habits.
