My name is Jimmy L. I recently graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies.

I have worked as an academic tutor in math and English subjects since 2009.

I have also worked and cooperated with teachers in classroom style teaching as well as one-on-one tutoring.

I have taught with students of all ages, and helped them achieve great results on their exam scores.

My method of teaching is to first understand the difficulties the students have, work with them step-by-step, and communicate with the them efficiently in order to make the learning process easier and fun.

Prealgebra

I am currently a tutor for three different Boston Public Schools in various math subjects.

One of these math subjects is Pre-algebra. I work with students who struggle in understanding how to use the formulas and do the problems.

I use a step-by-step procedure that allows students to learn the math problems a little bit of a time until they fully understand the problem itself.

Japanese

I have been studying Japanese since 2003. My education on the language is 4 years in high school and 5 years in college. During my college years, I have taken Japanese courses that involve using the Genki book and "An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese." I have excelled in all my Japanese classes, writing and reading Japanese proficiently.

Elementary (K-6th)

I recently graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies. I have experience in the elementary subjects. I am currently a tutor for an elementary school. There, I help students with ESL, Math, and other subjects. I also provide motivation for students who continue to struggle with their subjects.

Study Skills

As an college alumnus, I learned many study skills that helped me prepare for exams, essays, homework, and other class preparations. I also have great note-taking skills, which have greatly helped me study more efficiently for exams.

As a tutor, I will help the student learn these skills in order to take notes, study better, and do well in school.

I charge the default rate by lessons done for that day, not time. I'm more focused towards student success than time. Also email me for any concerns.
