Thank you for your interest in enlisting me as a tutor! Having worked in a variety of roles in the academic world, I am quite familiar with its rigorous demands and challenges.
I started tutoring art history in college and quickly fell in love with it. After graduating summa cum laude, I spent the next year working as a museum educator, teaching writing at a private high school, and tutoring students of all ages, ranging from elementary school to the undergraduate level. In graduate school, I was employed as a teaching assistant and also as a graduate assistant in the Visual Resources Center, where I managed the university's visual image database and maintained the department's library. I have been awarded travel grants to fund my research in Italy, have been honored with the opportunity to present papers at a number of conferences, and have earned awards of distinction on all of my comprehensive exams (each lasting 4.5 hours and consisting of typed essays on the history of Western art and the art of the Renaissance/Baroque, my area of specialization). During my time at Harvard, I continued to pursue art and architectural history while deepening my knowledge of Christian mysticism and Buddhism.
I am very passionate about art history and religion, which I hope makes studying these subjects with me more enjoyable for you. I believe in a flexible approach to learning that is tailored to fit the individual, so if something we're doing isn't working, please tell me and we'll try another approach! I am very open to feedback and my goal is for you to have the most positive tutoring experience that you can.
Please let me know if I can answer any questions. I look forward to working with many of you!
