I am a Harvard Medical School student and a graduate of Brown University and University of Pennsylvania. I have been tutoring as a volunteer and TA since high school. I'm especially passionate about biology (all levels, including college Genetics and Physiology) and K-8 math, but I can also tutor all K-8 subjects, high school algebra and geometry, as well as high school physics and test prep (MCAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE math).

I absolutely love learning and teaching, and I've been told by previous students that I'm great at taking different approaches to the material until students reach that fantastic "ah-ha!" moment.

Testimonials

"Marissa is very patient and thorough."

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. Genetics

I received an "A" in Brown University's Introductory Genetics course, BIOL0470, and went on to TA that course for two consecutive years after (Fall 2010 and Fall 2011). I also received a score of 15 on the MCAT biological sciences section, which includes genetics problems.

Marissa is very patient and thorough. — Marissa is helping my son with math. My son is an excellent math student but has transferred to a school with an accelerated program and with my work schedule I simply do not have the time to sit down with him once a week to check in and review. Marissa has been great. She is thorough and patient (it is often difficult to get my son to sit still - especially after a long day of school). She is ...
