I believe in making personal connections with all of my students. I like to get to know them well so that I can develop a teaching approach for each student that will cater to their individual needs. While I do believe that learning to read music is extremely important, I like to place an emphasis on improvisation and playing by ear. I always try to get my students to jam as soon as possible so that they can really enjoy their instrument. I put a strong emphasis on learning the fundamentals of saxophone including sound production, scales, and articulation as well as harmony, theory, and rhythm.
I am a recent graduate of the Berklee College of Music with a degree in saxophone performance. I love to perform and have weekly gigs at the Fairmont Hotel, Club Rumor, and the Seaport Hotel and am involved in various other projects. Teaching is a passion of mine, and I am very excited to work with Youth and Family Enrichment Services Inc. this summer as a music instructor and math tutor. I've taught privately in the past at Marin Music Center and have been a physics, math, and statistics tutor at Berklee for the past two years.
