My name is Jonathan, a current student of Berklee College of Music interested in taking on the position of tutor for yourself/your child. Though I am finishing my degree at Berklee, my skills while studying music education for two years at Berklee has improved my teaching abilities. In addition, I have previous experience teaching and am more than capable of overseeing a chorus and/or band. Furthermore, this spring I will be graduating school, ready to foster my own growth as a teacher and performer while giving the students superior musical training.
I am in the last semester of my pursuits as Professional Music major with an emphasis in Music Education. Through the Music Ed. program I have acquired tools that help make lesson/class time more enjoyable and insightful for the students through the understanding of learning styles, various music instruction methodologies, and personal experience. As result, I have helped cultivate the musical minds of children aged 10-18 with the aforementioned tools at my current place of work.
Hyde Square Task Force is a community center that partners with Berklee's Music Clubhouse department and is my current employer. For more than two years have I served as vocal instructor at the establishment. During my time there two of my students were accepted into Boston Arts Academy, one student has won the coveted Clubhouse Idol competition, and others have performed at such events as Beantown Festival. The accomplishments of my students are merely a reflection of their dedication combined with my and the other staff member's dedication to make them understand music holistically-the written language, performance, and history of music.
Moreover, my greenness into the school system can cause one to be apprehensive to hire me. However, it is my commitment to student excellence, love of music, and genuine desire to make others succeed that compensate for my minimal experiences. With hope, my experiences in the Berklee music education program, as vocal instructor at Hyde Square, as church choir director, and as private vocal instructor for adolescents and adults alike will help persuade you.
