I am a passionate and highly skilled tutor specializing in preparation for the undergraduate admissions tests: the SAT I (Math, Critical Reading, and Writing) and the ACT (English, Math, Reading, and Science). I have taught for multiple national test prep companies for over nine years, logging hundreds of hours of one-on-one tutoring and group classroom instruction. As a high school student, my scores were in the 99th percentile; as a tutor, I regularly re-take the SAT and ACT to maintain an in-depth understanding of the tests' structure and content (and to amass multiple perfect scores). My diligent students can expect an increase of 200-500 points over a previous SAT or PSAT score or 3-6 points over a previous ACT score.
In addition to SAT & ACT tutoring, I offer comprehensive preparation for the SAT Subject Tests (Literature, Biology & Math IC/IIC), AP Exams (English Literature, English Language & Biology), SSAT/ISEE, GMAT, GRE, and TOEFL, as well as tutoring in several academic subjects, including Geometry, Algebra I & II, Grammar, Writing, Literature, and Biology. I can also help guide students through the college admissions process and edit application essays (recent students with whom I've worked have been admitted to Harvard, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania, among others).
My curriculum combines strategies I've learned from tutoring with national test prep companies and techniques I've developed on my own over my years of experience and from my analysis of 20 years of official administered tests. Appreciating that no two students are alike, I create customized lesson plans designed to fit individual schedules, academic goals, strengths and weaknesses, and learning styles. My students can expect to master approaches for every section and question type, reinforce their fundamental Math, Reading, Grammar, Writing, and Reasoning skills, and monitor their progress with regularly administered practice tests. I also strive to make tutoring as engaging and fun as possible with creative, entertaining exercises and an enthusiastic attitude.
I currently have weekday evening and weekend availability for new students. I hope to hear from you!
