Greek

I have been a teacher for approximately ten years and at the moment I am a teaching fellow and graduate student at Boston University. I have met and collaborated with many young children and their parents, knowing firsthand their demands, needs and standards, which have more often than not been quite high. As a consequence, I learnt to be adaptive and adjust to every single case, which I treat as unique. In addition, I have participated in many seminars on pedagogics, including one on the Methodology of Teaching Greek as a foreign language, which was organized by the Hellenic American Union, Athens.

Furthermore, my cultural background allows me to have a very accurate, natural and deep perception of the Greek language. Born and bred in Athens, Greek is my mother tongue, which I have always used as a means of communication with family, friends and my social contacts. Moreover, I have received most of my education in Greek, which enabled me to enrich and master the language on a pretty high level as well as in a coherent and structured way. What is more, since we have young members in my immediate family, I can cope with the behavior of kids and face efficiently potential problems that may come up.

Spanish

As far as my academic qualifications are concerned, I started to learn Spanish at the Cervantes Institute of Athens, which gave me the unique opportunity to explore and immerse in the Spanish language and civilization firsthand. In addition, I studied Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Athens, where the vast majority of the teaching staff were either Spanish or Latin American native speakers, which enriched more widely my linguistic background. Moreover, I have participated in many teaching seminars organized in Spain and in Athens by the Cervantes Institute, which resulted in my becoming an examiner for the Institute, registered at the Spanish Ministry of Education, in early 2007. As for the Greek language, my cultural background allows me to have a very accurate, natural and deep perception of it. Born and bred in Athens, Greek is my mother tongue, which I have always used as a means of communication with family, friends and my social contacts. Moreover, I received much of my education in Greek, which enabled me to enrich and master the language on a pretty high level as well as in a coherent and structured way. What is more, I have participated in many seminars on pedagogics.
When it comes to my professional qualifications, I have an experience of approximately ten years in teaching Spanish at various foreign language institutes and as a tutor. I have prepared many candidates for the examinations held by the Cervantes Institute as well as for the Spanish Literature. Thus, I believe I can adjust to the needs and demands of each student individually and at the same time avoid neglecting the needs of the class as a whole. Moreover, I am capable of working as part of a team and cooperating with other fellow teachers as well as holding responsible positions and performing both organizing and educational tasks. With regard to the teaching of Greek, I have had quite a satisfactory number of students as a tutor.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
