I am registering with WyzAnt as a general academic tutor and as a provider for two distinct skill sets.

I was an excellent student in school and am well-versed in general academic subjects like math and reading. I have worked as a classroom teacher, lecturer, and one-on-one tutor. As a father of three nearly grown kids with varying school difficulties, I have experienced the drama of elementary, middle and high school as a parent.

I have been a music teacher for 30 years, in classroom and one-on-one settings. My music lesson clientele consists of elementary, middle and high school students and adults from diverse economic and social backgrounds at all levels of experience. I offer lessons for piano, electric bass, guitar, voice, and arranging/composition/theory. Styles include: jazz, gospel, rock, sacred, folk, and other contemporary genres. I use my experience as a freelance musician in my teaching. I have a Master's in Jazz Piano and currently play keyboard for a soft-rock band, lead worship for an African-American church and direct the choir for a large-scale city-wide annual event. In addition to private teaching and performing, I do transcription, arranging, workshops and studio session work.

I have worked in multiple tech jobs since 1979. I have experience in a variety of platforms, but my strongest work is with MS Access and VB which I have worked with for more than 15 years. I have been an application developer for government agencies, non-profits and small businesses. Past and ongoing projects include the maintenance and enhancement of:
•A Project Tracking System for a telecommunications provider that services government and commercial installations
•A student information system for a community adult education program
•Reporting systems for violence studies at State department
•Rental agreement tracking system for real estate company
Tools: Primarily MS Access with VBA, DOS, other MS Office Applications

I also have extensive experience with and advanced knowledge of the rest of the MS office suite, especially PowerPoint.

Microsoft Excel

I have been using Excel since the 80's. I currently use it to support several clients in their statistical analysis, often writing macros to import or export into or out of Access. I also use VBA to automate reformatting of regularly needed data.

General Music

I have been playing music for 50 years. I have a masters in jazz piano and 35+ years experience as a church musician. I currently co-lead a worship team, teach private lessons and play in a band.

Guitar

I have been playing for more than 40 years and have an active roster of satisfied students. I play both acoustic and electric guitars and teach many styles, including rock, folks, pop, gospel, and beginner jazz. I also have proficiency in solo guitar.

I am a well-known worship leader and use my 12-string frequently to lead small and large group singing.

I have extensive experience with Biblical studies. Beside undergrad and grad level classes, I have been an active student of the Bible (both testaments) since I was a teen. I consistently score very highly on Bible trivia games, and am very comfortable using tools like Strong's concordance and lexicons.
