I am a graduate of Wellesley College where I graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. I received a degree in English and worked as an English Department Tutor during my time there. I went on to complete a PhD in Comparative Literature at Harvard University during which time I also worked as Literature and Writing tutor in one of Harvard’s undergraduate residence halls.
I have had the opportunity to engage with undergraduate writing in a number of different capacities. When I joined Cabot House as a Resident Tutor four years ago, I started an in-house writing support program to address students’ anxieties around paper-writing for a variety of concentrations. I have received training both from Harvard and external professional development to assist students with graduate school personal statements.
I also have extensive experience with high school teaching and tutoring. I spent six years working at the Josiah Quincy Upper School (JQUS)—a pilot school in the Boston Public School system. At JQUS I taught a range of courses including English Language Arts, History, and Music. Additionally, this past summer I worked as Public Speaking and Debate instructor at Crimson Summer Academy—a program that aims to prepare top Boston high school students with the academic skills they need to compete at a wide range of universities.
Most recently, I performed some independent contract work with students from China to help them prepare college essays for competitive schools here in the U.S. including UPenn, MIT, and Columbia. I am also currently under contract with TutorVista--a international company that provides Through this position, I have received extensive training with writing tutorials for college papers.
Over three years of experience in the high school and college classroom, a decade of active involvement in tutoring, and three years of close interaction with college undergraduates has helped prepare me to be an effective tutor for you!
