As a certified and preliminarily licensed Special Education (grades PreK-12) and English teacher (grades 5-12), I have a passion for reading, writing and mathematics. I have the necessary background to help students excel and reach their fullest potentials, especially in the world of literature, writing and grammar. I realize the components of ELA (reading comprehension, writing skills and vocabulary skills) do not always come easily to certain individuals, which is why I try and make the learning experience fun, hands-on and knowledgeable.
I graduated in 2010 from Boston University where I received a degree in Political Science, although freshman year I did attend Syracuse University as an English major. Both majors are writing and reading intensive so preparation in helping others was quite beneficial. Upon early graduation I spent many of the Spring months substitute teaching for grades from K-12, where I found my passion for teaching. I feel as though the visible progress of each student is more rewarding than "work". I immediately signed up for the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure and passed every section on my first try.
Currently, I am working as a 7th grade special education inclusion full time teacher at Garfield Middle School in Revere, MA. I will be done with my Masters of Education in the middle of this August (2012), which I will have earned from Merrimack College. Last year I was working in the Billerica Public School system within the Compass Program as a full time paraprofessional (which acts similar to a teaching aide). The students involved in the Compass Program are usually placed upon the Spectrum. With that being said, I would love for the opportunity to meet you and your child/children in becoming part of their educational progress and development and to help make learning fun! Thank you. (Note: I am mostly looking for summer work and I do reside in Boston but a variety of locations are commutable for me).
