I have had over l4 years of experience working with students in public and private schools, specifically helping with IEP reading goals. I am Orton-Gillingham trained from the Massachusetts General Hospital Reading Program and also hold a current K-8 MA Professional License.

My focus is to individually craft lessons to meet the individual learning style of each student. This multi-sensory and phonetic approach to learning has great results.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

Orton-Gillingham is specifically designed to work with students who are diagnosed with specific learning disability (SLD) and dyslexia.
I have Orton-Gillingham active certification from the Massachusetts Hospital Reading Disabilities Unit. This program consisted of a thorough (300 plus hours) practicum and lecture series culminating in my 1997 certification. I currently work with students who have reading disabilities (including dyslexia) as a component of their IEPs.

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold an active MA teaching certification for K-8th grade.

Phonics

I am a trained Orton-Gillingham tutor and as such use a multsensory phonetic approach which boosts reading, spelling and related language skills.

Reading

I hold a Massachusetts General Hospital certification in the Orton-Gillingham phonetic multisensory reading approach. Using this approach I have had many years of successful results helping students achieve their reading goals.
