Tutoring with sensitivity, dignity and patience that is so important when tutoring adult learners. Reading
can be fun! I teach my students to not only read and write correctly but to enjoy these skills as well. Reading and writing well can open a whole new world to those who may currently be struggling with these subjects. My goal will be to instill an enjoyment and an appreciation of the interpretation and expression of the written word.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Legal Education from the University of Massachusetts. At college I taught and privately tutored adult ESL
students in legal terminology and case law
. Upon graduation I received the 1988 Book Award for my writing through the Law Department. I worked for twenty five years in human services, specifically with low income individuals and families as a case manager and accessed all types of benefits and services for clients. I also served that same community as an outreach worker, providing referrals for families and individuals in crisis. Additionally, I conducted ongoing education in a monthly seminar format to adults seeking an understanding of landlord and tenants rights and responsibilities for use in the first time home purchasing process.
