My son worked with Sophie to review and prepare for a 200 level college french composition class. She is conscientious and wanted to ensure that he met his learning goals for the time frame she tutored him. She prepares effective and pertinent lessons and teaches them with a multi-modality approach. She explains things well orally and follows them up with clear visual and verbal examples of the material. After each session she emailed recaps of what was covered during the lesson and included links to reinforcement practice homework exercises. My son enjoyed working with her and looked forward to his sessions.

Sophie worked intensely and efficiently with my son, a junior in high school, to prepare him for this year's French AP exam. A native French speaker, Sophie is an outstanding teacher who has experience in preparing the AP exam. She knows what is required and works efficiently and systematically towards the goal. She critically evaluates the student and focuses on his weakness. For example, Sophie understood that my son needed more practice in grammar and writing, than in listening and speaking. Therefore she organized the lessons in such a way to emphasize exactly what was needed the most. She is highly professional, easy to reach, very accommodating in terms of schedule, and came to our home to teach, which was very convenient. Sophie and I have had two lessons thus far. I find that she is helping me enormously with thorough explanations for the grammatical points or word usage problems I have. (I think it is a great advantage that she is a French teacher -- thus able to give me hints as to how to remember something. She knows the sticky problems students of French have.)

Also -- each time I leave our session I want to study more -- following up and reinforcing what she has just taught me.

We've met in two places now -- and i like the fact that she is flexible with time and we can meet at places convenient to us both.
