I have mastered Spanish peninsular and Hispanic language, literature and culture as well as Francophone and French language, literature and culture. I have studied and traveled extensively throughout Spain, France, Central American, and South America, as well as the Caribbean. I earned a Master's Degree in Spanish Language, Literature and Culture from Middlebury College School of Spanish in Madrid, Spain. I also earned a Master's Degree in French Language, Literature and Culture from the University of Illinois with extensive work at the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
I have the ability to build a student's confidence and help him/her master proficiency in all levels of Spanish and French. I have taught and tutored students in middle school and high school, college students, and adults. I have also taught teachers of Spanish and provided a week-long workshop on Spanish Advanced Placement Literature.
I am patient and respectful, and I have a genuine passion for languages. I have the experience and ability to give students the necessary tools to understand the syntax, usage of modes and tenses, (i.e. simple and compound tenses of the agreement between adjectives and nouns, pronouns, prepositions, etc.). I give appropriate assignments and review the student's work during each session that helps to make the material clearer. I also help students work on their oral and written skills. I teach students the importance of a modern language that will introduce them to literary works other than their own heritage and culture.
