My name is Stephen. I recently retired as a Spanish teacher in a special needs high school in Springfield, MA.
I have also worked part-time as a home-based tutor in Springfield.
I am tri-lingual: English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
My skills and experience include:
Spanish as a World Language (Grades 2 to University).
English as a Second Language (Grades 2 to University)
English Language (Grades 2 to University).
Writing (Grades 2 to University).
Science (Grades 2 to 10).
Saxophone (Technique and Improvisation
Throughout my many years of teaching and tutoring, four qualities stand out:
PATIENCE: I am patient with my students, and this patience helps them feel comfortable during tutoring sessions.
RESPECT: I respect my students and their parents. My students know that I respect them and their efforts to learn.
SENSE OF HUMOR: I have fun working with students, and I believe this fun (and even a little silliness) can help relax my students.
INTELLECT: I am very bright and curious about the world, and I share this curiosity in my teaching.
While much of my teaching and tutoring experience has been with young people, I FEEL CONFIDENT IN MY ABILITY TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY TUTORING FOR ADULTS. Please consider me as your tutor if you are an adult, particularly in writing and in English as a second Language.
Finally, if you are looking for some help in learning how to play the saxophone or in learning how to improvise, consider me. I am a performing saxophonist (jazz, Latin jazz, salsa, merengue, Brazilian jazz, funk, r & b).
Sincerely,
Stephen
