I come from a performance background with over 23 years of experience as a Character Animator. Starting in traditional 2D animation, I made the conversion to 3D along with the rest of the industry and have never looked back.

I have worked in Feature Animation (Pagemaster, Swan Princess), Visual Effects Animation for Film (Van Helsing, Lemony Snicket, The Mist, Snakes On A Plane), and Videogame Animation (Robot Rising, Immortal City, Adam Blaster, City Of Heroes, Afro Samurai).

I was the Animation Supervisor for an Academy Award-winning film.

Some of the companies I've had the pleasure of working for in the past include Industrial Light & Magic, Electronic Arts, Disney Interactive, Cafe FX, Rich Animation, NCsoft, Tencent Boston/Stomp Games, Reel FX, Creative Capers Entertainment, Juicebox Animation, and Namco/Bandai.

I am currently an Animator on the Disney Fairies: Hidden Treasures games for Microsoft at HitPoint Studios in Amherst, MA.

I teach animation at the New England Institute of Art in Brookline, MA and at Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts in Waltham, MA. I am also a regular contributor of tutorials to Digital Tutors.

In the past, I have lectured, instructed, or given presentations at PAX East, the Game Developers Conference, ASIFA, the International Game Developers Assocation (IGDA), Art Center College of Design, and SIGGRAPH.

I have also been providing one-on-one animation tutoring online privately for over three years, and I enjoy it so much that I am now expanding my time to include more students.

I offer instruction in both 2D and 3D animation, as well as character rigging, modeling, texturing, and FX. I also can provide instruction in 3dsMax and Blender as well as Maya.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

From 1991 to 1999 I worked exclusively as a 2D animator doing hand-drawn animation for feature film and video games. Companies that I worked for during that time include Hollywood Cartoon Company, Rich Animation, and Creative Capers Entertainment working on films such as "The Pagemaster", "The Swan Princess", and the entire series of Disney Interactive's "Animated Storybook" CD-roms.

Maya

I come from a performance background with over 23 years of experience as a Character Animator. Starting in traditional 2D animation, I made the conversion to 3D along with the rest of the industry and have never looked back.

I have used Maya as my primary animation, modeling, texturing, and rigging tool not only at numerous jobs but also when teaching at both the New England Institute of Art in Brookline, MA and at Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts in Waltham, MA. I am also a regular contributor of tutorials to an online digital tutorial site and the 3D animation courses have all been created in Maya.
