I am certified to teach k-5th grade. I currently teach first grade.
I am the mother of 3 daughters, ages 23, 19 and 15. I home schooled my daughters over a 12 year span and then decided to complete an alternate route teaching certification with an endorsement in special education through University of Mississippi's TMI program. I work as a substitute teacher in the Rankin County School district. I have certification in ESL. One of my children was learning delayed, which is why my interest in special education developed. My eldest daughter graduated from Belhaven University in 2010, and the middle daughter began her undergraduate studies there in the fall. This to example how I value the importance of education.
If given the opportunity to tutor your child, I commit to invest the time and energy I gave to my daughters and to the students I teach as a substitute. I feel each person can improve their performance with the right guidance and tools. I believe it is invaluable to study daily and to practice new skills in order to master them. Repetition, oral reading and "teaching the teacher" are tools which enhance learning.
Every person can learn and it is a rewarding experience.
