Hi, my name is Shelly. I'm a young professional who's currently enrolled in an MBA program at Walden University. I received my bachelor of arts from Wiley College of Marshall, Texas in 2007. While in undergrad, I was an assistant to the Dean of English
Department in 2006. In my upbringing, I was trained to embrace higher education at an early age. I was expected to write and speak well even at home.
Traditional education has trained most students to learn a particular formal way, but life has to taught me to think outside the box. I've found that students can excel
in any topic, but I realize that it can be mastered in several ways. For myself, I had to be in classes that challenged me intellectually, or I'd under-perform. In undergrad, I'd respectfully challenge doctorate professors to modify the way they taught students. I found that professors could increase their pass rate if they made their lesson plans a little more versatile.
At times, traditional educators can become overwhelmed with teaching when they think that they are putting their all into students. I have an enormous level of respect for teachers and the sacrifices that they make to prepare students for their professions. I partnered with three professors to create study guides, learning tools, and versatile lecture models. I get personal joy out of guiding students in areas that I've mastered. Students desiring to be tutored are being positioned to be an expert in a particular topic.
Getting the help that is needed is self-empowering and rewarding. I hope that your tutoring experience will encourage you to be more confident in class.
