Nice to meet you! I'm Audrey.

If you are a nonnative English speaker wanting to improve your conversation skills (including idioms!), reduce your accent, gain confidence while speaking English, or get better with grammar, reading, or writing, you are in the right place! If you are a native speaker looking for any of these things, you are also in the right place. Whatever your English need is, I will create a highly individualized learning course for you so that you can achieve your goals--and as quickly as possible.

I love to work with any age range: adults, any level of college, high school, and elementary school. Teaching every type of professional from doctor to model to student, I have gained great experience. I was the head of my university's learning center for two years, in charge of over 30 tutors of different subjects. Since then, I have tutored in New York City and New Orleans. I love helping you understand the craftiness of the English language. And with a BFA in acting, I also specialize in pronunciation and conversation.

Send me a message; I would love to assist with whatever you need. Let me spread my passion for the English language to you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

I recently passed a college course in Public Speaking with an 'A' grade. I also just received my BFA in acting, where I was trained intensely in how to be comfortable in front of large and small groups of people, how to alter material for the physical size of an audience, how to bring one's individual personality to any text, and how to create original material that other people can relate to without hitting them over the head with it. The degree program also made me very good at memorization and impromptu delivery. I would love to pass these skills on to others.

Speech

For the past four years, I have been working extensively with non-native English speakers, helping them recognize speech patterns that are incongruent with the contemporary American accent, and teaching them how to create sentences that flow naturally according to the native speech patterns. During this time, I was also receiving my own training in acting and voice. Enrolling in three classes of Kristin Linklater speech techniques and shadowing a certified Linklater teacher, I have embodied the practices of natural breathing patterns, vocal vibrations, tension relief, and articulation. I have also recently taken a college course in Public Speaking.

Theatre

I have spent the past four years getting my BFA in Acting from Oklahoma City University, graduating with highest honors this past May. My coursework included classes in Shakespeare, Chekhov, Greek, contemporary theatre, on-camera acting, auditioning, and directing. I have also acted in, directed, and choreographed many plays and musicals.
