If you/the student need help in Spanish or history, I'm the man to help. I have a B.A. in History, and I will be attending Louisiana State University in the Fall of 2013 in order to get my Master's Degree. I will ultimately acquire a Ph.D. in Medeival European History, in which I will be required to know how to read and write Latin, Spanish, French, and German. I took the mandatory three years of a language (Spanish) at Jesuit High School as well as an optional additional year to become even more familiar. I tested out of the first three Spanish level courses at Louisiana State University, and I took Spanish IV to complete my language requirements for my history degree. I technically tested out of Spanish IV as well, but I was required to take it since I went to a Louisiana college from a Louisiana high school. It's a very weird rule. I can read and write Spanish very well, and I work on it everyday by conjugating verbs in my Spanish binder, reviewing the rules of the language, and by tutoring other students outside of WyzAnt. I also listen to language software and talk to Spanish speaking people in order to improve my conversational abilities.
If you/the student need help understanding the material in your/his/her history class, I am very qualified to help. Whether help is needed in understanding the material, memorizing dates, learning how to write a powerful essay, or just needing someone to study with for motivation, I'll be able to complete the task. Writing a strong essay is probably the most difficult task in history, because many teachers expect the student to learn how to do it on his/her own. I'll make sure the student knows how to organize the essay and what details to put in. History has been my favorite subject ever since I was at St. Catherine of Siena grammar school. It is now my passion. I want to specialize in Medieval European history, especially on the Germanic migrations in Southern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. I know not too many people think history is exciting, but I make it exciting and fun when I teach it. That's how I found out I was meant to be a teacher instead of a lawyer.
I am generally available Monday-Thursday from 3:30 pm-9:30 pm. I am also available on Saturday and Sunday at any mutually agreeable time.
Please understand that I tutor quite a few students. I require 24 hours advanced notice for canceled, skipped, or rescheduled lessons; otherwise your account will be billed for one-half the rate and duration of the normal lesson.
I am able to tutor K-12 and college students. Since I just graduated in May of 2012, I am still in touch with the requirements and the study skills necessary to get the top grades. I will make what seems to be boring historical information into exciting knowledge, and I will make conjugating Spanish verbs second-nature to the student.
I hope to see you soon,
