First of all I would like to thank you for your interest in me as a tutor for your child. I am a presently retired elementary and middle school teacher. I spent twelve years teaching in the Putnam County School District located in Palatka, Florida. My classroom experience was teaching intellectually disabled students academic and life skills. I have also taught social studies at the middle school level. Teaching children with disabilities has exposed me to many different teaching methods that can help a struggling student learn elementary math, reading and writing skills. I have tutored many students in my past service with the Putnam County School District who have shown sufficient progress to advance to the next level. This also included students who were being tested annually in high stakes state assessments.
I would also like to include in my toolkit of skills the many years I spent as an accountant, general manager and chief financial officer of several agribusiness concerns. Since my original major in college was accounting at Stetson University located in DeLand, Florida, which was a well respected program at the time, I know I can bring to aspiring accounting and finance majors a real-world perspective to their academic pursuit, especially those students that are just beginning their studies in these fields.
