Hello, just call me “Mr. Mac.”
Because of my varied background in engineering mathematics (College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus), university physics and chemistry, and a BA in English and Journalism in Education, I have enjoyed teaching and tutoring in related subject areas for both high school and college students.
•My best success in teaching and tutoring, particularly in mathematics, is to develop patterns from within the immediate topic, to go over text book examples and ask you, the student, if this makes sense, and then to proceed to the related assignment.
•I really enjoy presenting related subject matter with the goal for you, the student, toward future success in assignments and tests.
•Because I have taught in classroom settings and in tutoring venues, I do have documented compliments from students, in addition to an endorsement from my tutoring-site manager.
•The goal in tutoring in any subject matter is to re-enforce to the student the daily need to practice, with the idea that “success breeds success.”
•As an example, in my first several weeks of Plane Geometry in high school, I had real difficulty grasping these new concepts in geometric relationships, i.e. congruence and geometric proofs. But my father secured tutoring services for me which brought me up from a “D”, first quarter, to a “B” second quarter, and thus, gave me that “head-start” needed in my pre-engineering high school curriculum.
•I have tutored my own daughter in home-schooling through each of these math disciplines successfully, in addition to tutoring adults in likewise related college-level classes.
Hoping this gives you a “thumb-nail” sketch of my sincere intent to tutor any student needing that critical, timely personal assistance in achieving daily success in study habits relating to mathematics, particularly Algebra I, Algebra II, Plane Geometry, Solid Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus.
