If you are looking for an English tutor who teaches beyond the textbook, please consider me. The English language is highly irregular, and this very fact is the reason that many students feel so much anxiety when tackling an assignment. One size doesn't fit all when it comes to learning this often difficult language. This is the time that a good teacher will see that lessons are tailor-made for a student who is struggling in English grammar, writing, reading, and/or spelling. Even as a whole classroom teacher, I found it necessary to create individual lessons for many of my students. It would be difficult for me to say what part of the English language I enjoy teaching the most. Reading is my passion, and I know how to teach reading for information as opposed to reading for pleasure. Not knowing how to read for information is likely the biggest reason for test taking failures. I practice writing daily, to include poetry, fiction, and non-fiction compositions. Grammar can be fun! Yes, fun! The very fact that there are many exceptions to the rules makes for challenging puzzles, puzzles that can be enjoyable to solve. Here again, the student's learning styles and interests need to be considered when planning lessons.
