ADD/ADHD

My own son has ADHD, so I am very familiar with the challenges that this condition presents to the student. I have a lot of experience in both teaching and tutoring students with ADD and ADHD. The most important aspects to help them with is organization and to give them a sense that they can succeed despite the issues they have. Patience is the most important quality that a a tutor must have when dealing with students with ADD/ADHD.

COBOL

I was a COBOL programmer for 15 years and have taught COBOL at Avila University for more than 5 years.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have more than 25 years of teaching experience in math and science subjects. I have taught at all levels from elementary to graduate school. The first thing I do with a new student is to get to know their learning style and look for topics to inspire their interest. A motivated student will achieve so much more success in life than ones who just go through the motions. I have extensive knowledge in curriculum preparation (I was a certified teacher in the UK and taught at levels equivalent to 5th grade through college). I prepare a comprehensive workbook for all of my students that include all of the materials they will need, and provide learning software for their laptops and references to online help that they will find beneficial. I create an individual plan of study for each of my students and update it each week as they make progress. Above all, I have the patience and flexibility to work with the student until they achieve the success.

GED

I am completely familiar with the requirements of the GED test and can provide a structured study plan to maximize your score in this very important exam.

Visual Basic

I have been programming in visual basic for more than 15 years. I am currently an expert in VBA for Microsoft products such as Excel and Word. I have developed an extensive number of Excel programming projects using VB for large corporations such as Sprint.

Web Design

I have over 10 years experience with web design and I specialize in HTML and CSS. I also have quite a bit of experience in SEO techniques to help promote websites. I have taught web design in college and follow the W3C standards in what I teach.
