I am a college math professor who enjoys tutoring all levels of math (K-college) on the side. I have been tutoring various levels of math for about 7 years now. I have taught in the classroom setting, in group settings, and in one-on-one settings. Over the summer, I am an assistant director at an outdoor science camp for elementary students. I have also been working with a few ACT prep students in the evenings. Now that camp is over, I am starting an online business as a distributor for Herbalife which allows me to set my own hours and continue to teach and tutor as needed.
I have found inside and outside of the classroom, students learn math best by doing it. Therefore, I like to set up my sessions by working through several problems. These can be homework problems, specific types of problems, test review problems, and even problems that I will make up as we go along. The repetition of working through these problems allows the student to imprint the mathematical steps in his/her mind as well as increase confidence in successfully completing the problem with less help from me over time.
Normally, I meet with my students in a public place such as a library or coffee shop. If I can meet with you at the Olathe Public Library (on the corner of Park and Water), I will take $5 off my fees. Also, I am available during the day for college students and adult learners. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to meet me!
