My passion to teach comes from my desire to help others learn. I strongly believe that the ability to get help from others is a blessing and the ability to help others learn is a true honor. For that reason, I have volunteered at various non-profit organizations in the past to help kids and adults with their TAKS or GED preparations. The experience has always been wonderful.

With a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, I have built a strong foundation on various branches of math and sciences through hard work and dedication. For the tutoring services, I specialize in math (from algebra to Calculus, GRE math), general Chemistry, and general Physics. In addition, I also offer Chinese lessons for the interested minds. Normally, the first session will consist of getting to know the students and finding out the subject areas that trouble them the most as well as their learning objectives. Practice problems will then be assigned and reviewed in a step-by-step fashion; the problems will be challenging but not overwhelming to keep the students interested.

I hold myself to a high standard, so if you are not completely satisfied with the tutoring, there will be no charges for the 1st session(the statement is only valid if you provide reasonable feedback regarding the tutoring). There is also a 24-hr cancellation policy.

To ensure everyone's safety, the first session will generally be conducted in a public place (local libraries/coffee shops/bookstores). From there, future meeting places can be discussed to best suit the student's desire. Special arrangements (such as tutoring at home for minors) can also be accommodated.

May I please have the honor to help you succeed on the subject you desire?

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I aced all my math classes while attending Plano Senior High School. I have also volunteered at various non-profit organizations to help kids and adults improve their math skills.

Chemical Engineering

I have a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from UT Austin with a GPA of 3.47. I also worked as a process improvement engineer at Eastman Chemical in Longview, Texas for about a year and a half. And I am currently applying for Chemical Engineering PhD programs in various universities.

Chinese

I was born and raised in China so my native language is Chinese (Mandarin). I can read, write, speak Chinese fluently. To this day, I still use Chinese on a daily basis.

GED

I used to volunteer at East Texas Literacy Council (ETLC) to help adult learners with their GED math preparation. I like to focus on the problems that trouble the students the most by reviewing the problems with them in a step-by-step fashion. I would then have the students practice my own questions to reinforce the concept. All the feedback I have received from the students have been positive.

Geometry

Geometry has always been one of my favorite subjects in high school. I also received an A for that class.

GRE

I am currently applying for PhD Chemical Engineering programs in various universities so I understand how important it is to score high in GRE. In fact, I just took the GRE test myself after two months of studying. My GRE math scores are 167 (most recent) and 166 (previous test).
