My love of Spanish began as a teenager. While a Spanish student at Valparaiso High School, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Chile with a delegation from the Valpo YMCA and and also to live for a summer with a family in Ecuador through American Field Service. In college I spent my junior year abroad studying at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. In Madrid I attained fluency in Spanish and an appreciation for the culture by living, studying, and socializing with Spaniards and other Spanish speakers from all over the world.
I graduated with Honors from Indiana University in 2000 with a degree in Spanish and Linguistics and was also awarded membership to the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. After graduation, I returned to Madrid to teach English. I have recently returned to Valparaiso after living in Austin, TX for the past nine years.
I strongly believe language learning should be fun as well as effective and have been a Spanish tutor since 2005. Spanish is my passion, and I love explaining Spanish verb conjugation, pronunciation, vocabulary, and culture to my students.
I teach Spanish grammar, reading, writing, and speaking. I can help middle school through college age students with traditional Spanish classroom work or assist with online home school or college coursework. I really enjoy working with WyzAnt’s conscientious and motivated students of all ages. I particularly enjoy working with high school students as that is the age I began to study Spanish as well. Whether you just need some guidance with an assignment or more regular tutoring to get the grade you want to achieve, I am ready to help you!
